Creating a New Musical
On the strength of that performance, Nikki and Chris have secured development seed-funding from an angel investor, to commision the book for a full-scale chamber musical-comedy version of the show, for a cast of 8.
In 2016, Martha Shrimpton was commissioned to write the book. A workshops is planned for late 2016.

Martha Shrimpton is an actor-musician who trained at East 15 Acting School on the “Acting and Contemporary Theatre” course. Having grown up in a musical household she started her acting career performing in Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Laine’s Christmas shows at The Stables Theatre Milton Keynes, where her journey began.
Martha is a founding member of ‘This Theatre Company’ and ‘Shrimpton & Routledge’. After a sell out run at Edinburgh fringe 2014 This Theatre’s show Café Ruse, written by Shrimpton, went on to tour the UK and Europe. Second Soprano is Shrimpton & Routledge’s first show which debut in a sell out performance at The Arts Theatre in the west end.
Martha has also worked with Bear Trap Theatre Company in ‘Enduring Song’ at Southwark Playhouse, Cloud Cuckoo Land in ‘Ding Dong’ at The Birmingham Rep Theatre and High Rise Theatre in ‘The Concrete Jungle’ at Arts Depot Theatre, London. In recent year’s she has performed alongside Fenella Fielding and Cleo Laine in the production ‘Woman Talk’ directed by Richard Digby Day. Before starting her training at East 15 Martha worked with Lacey Theatre Company, touring to venues around the country.
Martha has also written and directed a number of musicals for The National Youth Music Camps and has worked for multiple Theatre in Education companies as a music and drama practitioner. Martha has also trained as a producer as part of the Battersea Arts Centre young producers.
Christopher has collaborated with playwrights both established and emerging as director, dramaturg and in his former role as Literary Manager of Sydney’s Griffin Theatre company, on the development and production of many exciting new works of Australian theatre. He has directed the world premiere productions of Whore by Rick Viede (Belvoir Street BSharp), the musical Las Vegas (Confidential) at the State Theatre, Men, Love and the Monkeyboy by Caleb Lewis at the Darlinghurst Theatre and Riverside Theatres in Parramatta, The Department Store by Justin Fleming (based on the novel Au Bonheur des Dames by Emile Zola) for Parnassus Den at the Old Fitzroy Theatre, Navigating Flinders by Don Reid at the Ensemble Theatre and Mr Bailey’s Minder by Debra Oswald for Griffin Theatre; a production which broke the box office record for Griffin and later toured throughout Australia. Most recently he directed The Darlinghurst Theatre Company’s production of Macbeth.
For his own company, Tangent Productions, Christopher has directed Tony Kushner’s epic Homebody/Kabul at Belvoir Street BSharp. And the Sydney premiere of Myth, Propaganda and Disaster in Nazi Germany and Contemporary America by Stephen Sewell in 2003 (as well as its successful 2005 revival). His re-interpretation of Marlowe’s Edward II was presented at the Adelaide Fringe and of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream (presented as The Nightmare) at the Darlinghurst Theatre.
